Each year the MG Car Club MGF Register raises money for a charity at various national and local events.
The charity we support for the coming year is voted for by our members at our AGM.
We are proud to be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support between April 2025 and April 2026.

Previous Charity of the Year
The MGF Register’s charity fundraising initiative was instigated by Tim Morris in 2006 and today, it continues to do so annually. It is an important part of the Register in giving back to the community and a new charity is chosen each year. This has given the Register a wide range of causes to benefit for support from large charities, such as the RNLI, to smaller local concerns such as the Norfolk Hospice.
The first charity we supported was for Prostate Cancer Awareness which was run by the late Gary Steele MBE and was a small charity at that stage. Gary joined in with the club as did the MGF racing driver Martin Wills at the first charity event “eFFing the Bridges”. This was a road run around the Bristol bridges including both Severn crossings ending up at Dyrham Park near Bath. It was the first attempt at fundraising and we were able to give the charity over £600 as a result.
From 2006 the charities were chosen by individual Regional Reps. From 2011 they were chosen by vote from the committee following nominations from members. This was changed to a vote by those attending the AGM from 2024.
The Register has supported many different charities annually but in 2020/21 we extended a charity over two years for the first time due to Covid 19 and the lack of fundraising opportunities.
To date the Register’s members have raised over £30,000 for charity and we look forward to being able to raise much more in the future.
